    If teenagers are going to have sex, they're going to have sex. I watched a sex-ed video in middle school (yes, it was a public school) that strongly suggested that condoms do not work. There are so many girls who are pregnant in my high school. Maybe if we had better contraceptive education, they'd have been more careful.

    it's hugely important to teach abstinence in sex-ed classes, but the facts are dismal when it comes to abstinence-ONLY sex ed as being an effective way to prevent teenage pregnancy, dangerous abortions, or the spread of sti's. it's time to provide the most comprehensive and unbiased information on birth control that we can.

    But abstinence-only education doesn't work [1] [2] [3] [4]. May as well prepare people for how to protect themselves once they get into the real world -- and making sure they have their facts straight isn't a bad idea.

    that's like saying: abolition contraceptive-only education. most people can agree that both can be taught.

    abstinence works so why not teach it?
