Use technology to keep costs down — 6 months ago
U.S. industry uses technology of all sorts to improve productivity and keep costs down. Are universities doing enough to control costs and make education more affordable -- particularly for the middle class who may not be eligible for substantial financial aid ?

More schools ought to follow Stanford's example and cut tuition for low- and middle-income students. With the ridiculously huge endowments many schools have, they can certainly afford it.

Title Clarification — 6 months ago
It is hard to say "oppose" when the title says - Make Education More Affordable. Of course I am for it, everyone is for it, who actually wants to pay more for their education?? The real question is - how? I think that a system that stimulates competition to drive down prices would work best, and I think that we should try to stay away from government price control.

Apparently, university education is one of the few things that is inversely elastic; as prices go up, more people are willing to pay. This is bad and expensive.

It's ridiculous that so many people can't afford to go to college, and have to take out outlandish loans that follow them for years afterward. We need to fix this somehow.
