I agree that obesity is a problem in America. However, I also agree with Brett that you can't really impose a whole lot of restrictions/requirements because of someone's weight. The best argument opposing this idea of individual freedom is the cost to taxpayers in the health care industry of unhealthy people having health issues. I don't have numbers to present to you, but those are the general ideas of the opposing sides.

I'm not sure if the portion size is the biggest problem, but rather it is what we are eating (processed sugar & fryer grease = mmmmm)

Serve smaller portions and people will become used to eating smaller amount. Don't serve large options and fast food places, and simple things like that. Making organic foods cheaper is also something that can be done. Im sure people would buy organic over other stuff if it was the same price.
