This seems like a relatively undefined issue? Cloning on the level of organs seems like it would be extremely beneficial for medical purposes...but cloning of entire human being is a totally different issue.
Ideally, it's something we could work around. The problem, of course, arises when it could theoretically become medically useful or necessary, and the value of the life of the clone comes into question. This is much more difficult issue....and probably the underlying question of this topic.
However, we don't really have this capability...and research towards it would probably lead to lots of useful ways to prevent death/disease.

cloning might be aight. it just needs to be dealt with using rational logic, and thorough scientific research.

Is this cloning in general or cloning humans? Recently the FDA generated a report that rules cloning cows essentially safe. I hold back on this only because cloning may further the loss of genetic diversity of domesticated plants and animals making them more susceptible to disease. There are also other problems like the increase of birth defects and miscarriages in cloned animals but this is a technological problem that will disappear as the science progresses. Cloning in my opinion, despite my criticism, is certainly important research to support.

One problem is that "cloning" sounds scary. We will lose all our individuality! We will become sexless and bland! Don't you remember?

So people get excited about banning cloning -- and this hurts scientific innovation in "therapeutic cloning," including techniques like somatic cell nuclear transfer.
