Stop banning books

I am an avid reader. I love books!

I will admit that there are certain books that should not be put into elementary-school libraries (ie pretty much the the entire adult fiction section). While where to draw the line may be a subjective topic, I do believe that there is most certainly a difference between common sense and advocating for certain biased viewpoints.

Much of the book-banning support comes from parents who are afraid of their children reading things that are 'not morally upright' or contain things like 'witchcraft,' etc. (one of the most obvious examples is the Harry Potter series) I believe that it is the duty/responsibility/what-have-you of individual parents to decide what their own children should and should not read, and that they should not have the ability to limit what is available to other children. Parents need to educate their own children on what is real and what is not, or what is right and what is wrong, in order to, among other things, allow them to better function and address the viewpoints and backgrounds of peers different than themselves.
