As long as the government isn't the one who mandates it. The federal government is the worst offender in terms of environmental destruction. I trust them least of all. The free market, on the other hand, is a beautiful thing that people always underestimate as a catalyst for change.

I'm not sure about your assertion that the federal government is "the worst offender in terms of environmental destruction," but I can tell you the federal government has done a lot of good things when it comes to the environment, namely the National Parks Service. The free market may be a beautiful thing, but, and not just on the environment, it has often shown an unwillingness to adapt to change that is necessary if it is also unprofitable.

You're wrong there Sam. The government is a HUGE polluter.

"The United States Military is the the world’s largest fuel-burning entity...That translates into about 440,000 barrels of oil per day, or slightly more than the entire output of the oil field at Prudhoe Bay...Multiply by 365 days per year, and the U.S. government burns up about 160 million barrels of oil per year..."

Awesome, let's let the almighty government figure out how to fix our environmental issues. They're so good at it.

Fast Food  —  9 months ago

Fast food places waste a ton of their packaging materials, and offer no place for recycling. If they used recyclable materials, and offered customers the chance to recycle, we would see less and less waste.
