Why don't we care? — 5 months ago
When you think of the main environmental problems facing the world today, trawl fishing doesn't regularly come to mind. Why is this?
Because of these commercial fishing ships, the populations of nearly all species of commercial fish are being depleted more rapidly than they are reproducing. Trawl fishing also takes away the livelihoods of small subsistence fishermen, whose practices are more eco-friendly.
This issue is not going away anytime soon and is only going to worsen. With many species of fish on the fast track toward extinction, why aren't we hearing more about the harm of trawl fishing?
