note that the argument "pot should be illegal because alcohol is more potent and is legal" is often used, but fallacious because those who argue against pot might also take issue with alcohol. I prefer the decriminalization argument because we waste way too much police work, jail time, and time in the court with silly marijuana possession cases.
I think we should instead focus on cases like DUI. Marijuana is pretty harmless, but cars can be very dangerous. Although the story about the drunk/high driver is terrible, I would attribute the crime to the fact that the intoxicated person was driving a car not that they were high. Thus they were not dangerously abusing marijuana so much as they were abusing their privilege to drive a car.
