note that the argument "pot should be illegal because alcohol is more potent and is legal" is often used, but fallacious because those who argue against pot might also take issue with alcohol. I prefer the decriminalization argument because we waste way too much police work, jail time, and time in the court with silly marijuana possession cases.
I think we should instead focus on cases like DUI. Marijuana is pretty harmless, but cars can be very dangerous. Although the story about the drunk/high driver is terrible, I would attribute the crime to the fact that the intoxicated person was driving a car not that they were high. Thus they were not dangerously abusing marijuana so much as they were abusing their privilege to drive a car.

If we were to ban things based on the fact that people sometimes misuse them, we'd have to ban a whole lot of things. And what I do or do not do to my brain is my business, and not the government's, or so I'd like to think.

When my mother was pregnant with me, her and my dad were run off of the road into a wooded area by a driver who was completely high...not to mention it damages your brain.

I don't smoke pot, and I likely never will. But I am willing to bet that more than fifty percent of the people running for President right now have smoked it or have been offered it. Pot is not addictive and you can't overdose on it - unlike alcohol, which is, of course, legal. But the bigger issue is that the government ought to have no business telling me what I can or cannot put in my body, and certainly has no business letting people languish in jail for buying and selling an inoffensive product that is used by millions of people. This useless waste of government resources to persecute a harmless section of the citizenry must end.
